View other Jr. Academy Photos The Betty Shabazz Delta Academy focuses on young ladies from 5th grade through 8th grade. There are 18 young ladies in the program. We do often allow younger girls to participate. Currently, we have three 8 year old participants as well.

Our academy is under the Science and Everyday Experiences (SEE) program. SEE was created by Delta Sigma Theta and the Delta Research and Education Foundation (DREF), in partnership with the AAAS Directorate for Education and Human Resources Programs.

We have a core group of activities that we focus on at every meeting; book club, science, math, etiquette/courtesy, writing skills, speaking skills and arts/crafts. We will be conducting a Science Fair in May to go along with our May Week activities.

The Junior Academy is designed to prepare our young women for life as successful African American women. We also help transition them into the Delta GEMS, which prepares them to deal with the challenges of high school and college preparation.

We meet on the 1st Saturday of each month from October through June at the
